Overview

Restaurant Ahmad, nestled in the heart of Taman Damai Utama, Puchong, offers a slice of authentic mamak dining rich with local flavors and familiar comforts. This longstanding eatery blends classic Malaysian street food with a modest, unpretentious setting that draws a steady stream of patrons throughout the day and into the night.

The menu covers a broad spectrum of mamak favorites, from steaming cups of Teh Panas to indulgent plates like Mutton Curry, Nasi Lemak Telur Mata, and the ever-popular Kuey Teow Goreng Ayam. Highlights such as the fried chicken, noted for its juicy tenderness when served hot, and the roti—while occasionally inconsistent—display moments of crisp, fluffy perfection that recall the best of traditional mamak craftsmanship. The presence of a Malay masak station inside adds another layer, offering stir-fried dishes and tom yum, which enrich the diverse culinary experience here.

Restaurant Ahmad excels as a casual gathering spot, where locals come to unwind over familiar tastes and affordable choices. The space, recently renovated to create a brighter and airier atmosphere, includes amenities like Astro TV, making it a popular hub especially during major sports events. Yet, it retains the raw charm of a typical mamak outlet, complete with the lively chatter and smoky ambiance, which may not suit those sensitive to such environments.

Service can sometimes lag, as waiting times have been reported, and attention to utensil hygiene might benefit from improvements. However, the steady draw of regulars suggests the food and venue fulfill their expectations for comfort and flavor.

In summary, Restaurant Ahmad represents a dependable option for those craving classic mamak fare in Puchong. Its menu, location, and laid-back vibe resonate well with a diverse crowd—from families and friends to late-night diners—seeking the familiar warmth of Malaysian street food culture.

The Nasi Lemak here is okay, but portion are quite small. Curry mutton is just average and spiciness is just good enough, but really pricey for a small plate of it.

A very popular mamak spot in this area. The food are nothing special but got it goods. Here you see there is specialty like roti sarang burung I have tried a few of their food before generally it taste like a typical mamak. Their fried chicken are usually quite good especially when it is still hot. Their roti not so consistent where sometimes it can be very good where it is fluffy and crispy while other time it is very elastic. Overall food are ok. Good hang out spot and like typical mamak a lot people smoking around so it may not be so nice for the atmosphere.

Went there to try some mamak malay food. They have a malay masak inside the outlet that caters to malay stir fried dishes and tomyum as well. It was quite average but still no complaints. Prices are cheap too.

After renovation this restaurant looks brighter, larger and more airy now. There is also Astro TV for you to watch the world cup. Fried rice and noodles are quite nice here. But today as I ordered a tosei, it certainly turned me down with an unpleasant sourish taste. It also took me quite a long wait standing(no one cares to come and serve)just to order a fried chicken. The chicken is juicy and tender but a bit small on portions, salty and lacks crispiness on the skin. The teh halia is still good except that I order 'kurang manis' but they served it as 'sangat manis'. Utensils cleanliness is another problem. The fork and spoon has food residues sticked to it. They seriously needs to be more careful on the hygiene of the utensils. Anyway this mamak restaurant attracts lots of patrons day and night. It has been serving Taman Damai Utama residents for many years, thus it certainly has achieved most patrons expectations so far and so good.

The roti canai is so-so. However do try their nasi lemak (pinggan version). The rice does really has the strong coconut milk aroma and Sambal also taste quite ok. Some reviewers did recommend kuew tiao goreng mamak. It was ok but not up to tasty level. Anyway, price reasonable and staffs are friendly.

I came here in morning, roti canai and Teh were served hot and delicious. The curry given to me also fresh and hot cooked. The restaurant was clean, bright and had good air ventilation. Really enjoy when sitting inside. Toilet was also clean. Ample parking place here The price for this mamak restaurant was considered cheap. Roti canai costed only RM1.30, Teh for RM1.70
